Hail To The Chiefland, and Heal Haiti Relief Show

January 25th, 2010

What do atvs, a 20 gauge shotgun, a glock 17, one dead rabbit, Christmas tree burnings, Busch beer, a rope swing, a 19th century graveyard and a cabin all have in common?

This past weekend.

Headed up to Chiefland to meet the Floodwork guys for a fantastic January 22nd and 23rd. Not only are those guys incredibly hospitable but fantastic camping cooks. Props to Justin Swartsel for making the whole thing possible, Parks for scrambled eggs cooked in bacon grease, the gravy train Reverend Jason Gaskin, Oscar for giving yours truly the queen size bed, Towle for the Bubba Burger with the expired bacon bits, and Clay for shotgun beer can skeet shooting and for becoming a human Elmer Fudd (rabbit season, not duck season).

Amazing shows coming up this weekend and into next week. This Friday, we’ll be over in Tampa for a lovely evening at the Pegasus Lounge. Saturday night we’re back in Orlando for the amazing Underground Bluz show you’ve been hearing so much about (throwing some covers into that set as well, so it’s not one to miss), and batting cleanup we have the heaviest hitter of them all: Heal Haiti Relief Show at Backbooth on Thursday Feb. 4th!

Here are three great reasons to attend this show:

3. The Great Company: This show is featuring Buffalo Gun, Rug, Louis from Gasoline Heart, [synecdoche], Alex and the Beard, and a soon to be announced mystery headliner.

2. It is an ALL AGES show: finally, a Buffalo Gun show for the whole family. Usually we enforce the over 80 cutoff but this night we’ll be shipping in them seniors by the busloads. Be prepared for war stories and wallet-size photos of grandkids. Aw, shucks, just bring the grandkids, elderly ones.

1. ALL PROCEEDS GO TO DIRECTLY BENEFIT THE CRISIS IN HAITI: BackBooth has so graciously given the event a go with a no-overhead policy, so one hundred percent of the funds will go to three different non-profits currently working in Haiti.

It’s such an honor to be a part of this. We want to thank Sarah Conness and Monster Nature for making it happen, and more importantly, for sharing the vision to allow local entertainment to make a global impact. We will see you there, or you will see us at your house, and that will be the last thing you see.

  1. Whew! We had a ginormous storm last night that knocked out power to a good part of our small town. Thankfully no major injuries or anything like that.
